Intimate partner violence against migrant women

In the European Region, one in four women has been a victim of physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner in her lifetime, and one in ten has experienced non-partner violence. Violence between partners is endemic and widespread, but for immigrant women it is even worse, especially because of the conditions in which they often live in the host country.

The WHO report on violence throughout the World

Homicide is the third leading cause of death globally for males aged 15-44 years. In general, there are 1.3 million people worldwide die each year from some form of violence, particularly among low-income people. A quarter of all adults report having been physically abused as children, one in five women reports having sexually abused as a child. One in three women has been a victim of physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner at some point in her lifetime. And one in 17 older adults reported abuses in the past month.

Using communication to fight epidemics

During epidemics, pandemics, natural or environmental disasters, the problem of communication is one of the primary issues to deal with, and scientists and stakeholders know this well. Birth rate and R&D expenditure

An editorialist of Corriere della Sera - Angelo Panebianco - in this article explains the low propensity to invest assuming a correlation with the low birth rate in Europe and especially in Italy: low birth rate is a sign of a tired continent. However analyzing data OECD and the World Bank in 2012 seems not be correlated. In part because countries with higher birth rates are also the poorest and therefore generally do not have money to be allocated to public spending .
