Space research in Horizon 2020: which advantages for Italy?

Horizon 2020 identified space research as one of Europe's key industrial technologies. The Commission highlighted its potential for EU innovation and competitiveness, but what are the consequences and advantages for our country? Augmented reality in bioengineering

In the future the augmented reality will play a key role in medicine and Italy is among the first in Europe to investigate this possibility. Investments in scientific research and technological development (R&D) are increasing again in the United States of America. After the stagnation and the following recession in 2009 and 2010 - the black years of the financial and economic crisis - the United States regain their trust in scientific knowledge and technological innovation. According to a recent report by the National Science Foundation, in 2011 the US invested $428.2 billion in R&D: over 20 billion more than 2010, with a net 2.8% increase after inflation, higher than the GDP increase by 1.8%.

Ice and Space: research at Concordia Station

Concordia Station, which opened in 2005, is an Italian-French research facility in Antarctica. The tenth winter-over mission involves a team of 13 people. We had the pleasure to speak with Adrianos Golemis (Greece), the ESA-sponsored medical doctor.
