We support the Mario Negri Institute

The animal-right association "Animal Amnesty" announced a national demonstration in Milan on November 30th, against animal testing, instrumentally called "vivisection".

Aim of the demonstration is to bring the participants in front of the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmacologic Research in order to demonstrate against its director, the "vivisectionist" Silvio Garattini, as stated in the summoning announcement. This is at first an unacceptable personalization of the controversy, aimed to one of the most internetionally distinguished Italian scientists. Actually, however, it is the whole world of biomedic research to be called into question, as the target of advertising and press campaigns aimed to preventing Italian research from helping patients.

For this reason, we express full solidarity to Silvio Garattini and all the researchers from the "Mario Negri" Institute. Also, as representatives of the world of research, Institutions and media, we are ready to testify, even personally, our support at the Institute on November 30th, since we are aware that by endorsing the reason of research, we also endorse Italian citizens' right to health and the future of the Country.

Is 1.5 degrees still a realistic goal?

Keep 1.5 within reach, "keep the 1.5 degrees within reach." This was the slogan with which COP28 opened, the United Nations conference on climate change that just concluded in Dubai. The feasibility of this goal, however, now seems more uncertain than ever, even though many considered this aim too ambitious from the outset.
